Function:  Comprehension of the environment is coordinated
 
1. by the sensory organs of the head, especially the eyes.
In the process, the shoulders are raised as in stress responses
 
2. with the body
Rotation of the torso.
As well as this, the shoulders are fixed backwards and downwards to the thoracic spine.
